The Partnership Update
OpenAI announced an expansion of its collaboration with ServiceNow on October 28, 2026. The companies plan to connect business context and workflow actions in ServiceNow with ChatGPT and Codex, particularly for software delivery, IT operations and security work.
What Users Could Do
The announced integration is intended to help authorized users work with incidents, changes and records from conversational workflows. OpenAI says customers will connect their own ServiceNow instances and control available actions through their configuration and permissions. That is different from claiming that every customer has the same features today.
Availability Is Phased
OpenAI says the ServiceNow MCP plugin is available in its marketplace as of the announcement, with enhanced capabilities targeted by the end of 2026. The companies also described voice and security work planned for 2027. Several items are future availability targets, not launched services.
Why It Matters
A useful enterprise AI agent must operate within workflow permissions and produce traceable outcomes. Bringing suggestions and actions into the same interface may shorten some IT handoffs, but it also increases the importance of access review, incident logs and clear ownership when a recommendation is wrong.
Our Take
Before adopting an integration, map who can read and write which ServiceNow records, test approval boundaries, and confirm the exact release status of each desired feature. Procurement should distinguish an available connector from a preview and from a roadmap promise. We have not tested a connected enterprise environment.
Verification note. This report is based on the vendor’s dated announcement and linked documentation. We did not claim personal hands-on testing of a new release. Availability and pricing can change; verify current terms directly with the provider.
